In a side alleyway off Pirie Street, Adelaide, the Ankwal'kuitl stands tall, as it has done for many hundreds of years. Carved by the Kankank'kaal tribe as a civil mark on their surroundings, the pole has since been built over by urban development. It remains today unnoticed, tightly flanked between an insurance company building and luxury apartments.
